SSC Stenographer 2025: Full Details for Aspirants

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official notification for SSC Stenographer 2025. A total of 1590 vacancies are available, including 230 posts for Grade C and 1360 posts for Grade D stenographers. This exam is a great opportunity for candidates who have passed 12th grade and want to work in various government departments.

  • Notification release: 6 June 2025
  • Online application starts: 6 June 2025
  • Last date to apply: 26 June 2025
  • Fee payment last date: 27 June 2025
  • Correction window: 1 to 2 July 2025
  • Application status: July 2025
  • Admit card release: Last week of July 2025 (expected)
  • Exam date: 6 to 11 August 2025

Eligibility Criteria

Education

  • Candidate must have passed 12th class (10+2) from a recognized board or university.

Age Limit (as on 1 August 2025)

  • Grade C: 18 to 30 years
  • Grade D: 18 to 27 years
  • Age relaxation is available for reserved categories as per government rules.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the official SSC website.
  2. Register with your basic details.
  3. Upload your photo and signature.
  4. Fill in your educational and other details.
  5. Pay the application fee:
    • ₹100 for General/OBC
    • No fee for SC/ST/Women/Ex-Servicemen
  6. Submit the form and print a copy for future use.

Selection Process

There are two stages in the recruitment process:

  1. Computer-Based Test (CBT)
  2. Skill Test in Stenography

You must pass both stages to be selected.


Exam Pattern (Computer-Based Test)

  • Total Marks: 200
  • Total Questions: 200
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Negative marking: 0.25 marks for each wrong answer

Skill Test in Stenography

  • Dictation
    • Grade C: 100 words per minute for 10 minutes
    • Grade D: 80 words per minute for 10 minutes

    • English: 40 minutes (Grade C), 50 minutes (Grade D)
    • Hindi: 55 minutes (Grade C), 65 minutes (Grade D)

You must choose either Hindi or English at the time of application.

Exam Day Checklist

  • Grade C: Around 148 to 150 marks (Unreserved)
  • Grade D: Around 130 to 132 marks (Unreserved)
